BIBBIENA, A THEATRE TOWN

The exhibition called "Galli Bibiena Pier luigi Pizzi and Massimo Gasparon inheritance, two  baroque stage designers generations", made inside Bibbiena's theatre museum,  ended the 12th january 2003, with a large public participation, about a thousand of visitors.  "Theatre, stage designing and costume" museum, the only example of this kind in Italy, ambitiously has framed our country as a "theatre town": we can count on a permanent fund composed by contemporary artists sketches, drawings, stage designs, booklets and opera's scores. With our Educational Centre, you will be able to deepen specific subjects using a databank on stage designing, from Galli Bibiena architects to contemporary stage designers, collaborating with "Cini's  Venice Foundation".

In order to create a baroque cultural diffusion net, Bibbiena district has been realizing a small theatres census in Central Italy and has worked to “Openopera” plan, since 2001, also promoting lyric productions in smaller theatres. Therefore "Arcadia in music"  baroque Festival -  represents the great moment that Bibbiena was going to live. From 15 May 2003 to the 18 May, daily show preparing baroque arias,  instrumental and sacred music concerts, will follow one another in Bibbiena. In this occasion, Dovizi theatre will host, the first night of the play "Semiramide Riconosciuta" based on Metastasio is text and Purple music. New work's stage designing was staged by  Massimo Gasparon, well-known producer and Teacher Pier Luigi Pizzi's young student. In spring Festival we have organized some reflection moments and some meetings - discussion will allow  anyone to get into Baroque world and life style, revealing, appreciating and discussing it. Therefore, italian Baroque will be the undisputed protagonist, not only in musical and stage expression. A particular "baroque supper" will be another way for participants to discover curiosities, dress and of course a menu that noblemen and their guests were used to eat in big banquets of that magic and extraordinary period.
